At last summer is almost here and the wild flowers are blooming, the birds are ringing and the hawthorn trees are in full blossom. I am interested in comparing the blooming of the hawthorns each year. This year the hawthorn trees were magnificent.

As it was a cold windy day I walked in the shelter of the trees instead of along the beach. I came across St Patrick’s Chapel which is a ruin hidden near the trees among the sand dunes. The chapel is known to have been used in the early 15th century. It became buried inContinue reading “May 8th 2021”

We had a wonderful round of golf at Gullane with the Bowes then returned to their garden afterwards for drinks in the evening sun. Bliss. We are now allowed to meet another couple outside! Today was very different. We were playingContinue reading “April 4th 2021”

On the golf course yesterday I saw 18 larks all together finding something interesting on the fairway. Two tree sparrows are checking out our bird box for a potential nest. Spring is here! The sun was out all today but it wasn’t very cold. The snowdrops, aconites and crocuses are in full bloom just now. TheContinue reading “March 6th 2021”
