As it was a cold windy day I walked in the shelter of the trees instead of along the beach. I came across St Patrick’s Chapel which is a ruin hidden near the trees among the sand dunes. The chapel is known to have been used in the early 15th century. It became buried in sand and eventually covered in grass and shrubs. It was excavated in early 20th century but lies well below the surrounding ground. I have not found out the connection with St Patrick and the area.
