I saw the first eider ducks of the year today-4 of them in the sea. 2 males and 2 females. Eider ducks are very numerous in Spring and Summer but they do not seem to appear here in winter – as far as I have seen.
Among the other birds on the beach were a lot of crows. Apparently they are among the cleverest, most adaptable birds in the world. But they can be a real nuisance!
It was a lovely day but very windy. These oyster catchers were sitting still facing into the west wind.
